Oleg Cassini (Designer)
From his days as Secretary of Style for Jackie Kennedy, where he created the look that would reverberate around the world, Oleg Cassini has been known for his passion for beauty and style. He was born in Paris and raised in Italy, the son of Count and Countess Cassini of Russia. He emigrated to the United States in 1936 and found work as a costume designer for Hollywood studios.
After the war, Cassini returned to New York and established himself as a costume designer for musicals on Broadway. He also focused his attention on ready-to-wear fashion at his own fashion house. He designed the Camelot look for Jackie Kennedy with over 300 amazing outfits. He was married twice, first to Mary Fahrney and then to actress Gene Tierney. He was rumored to almost have married Grace Kelly.
Cassini's first perfume offering in 1978 was launched 12 years before his best known perfumes, when he collaborated with Euroitalia to produce Reporter for Men. The aromatic, woody fragrance evoked an era of dashing news correspondents and excitement.
Cassini was released in 1990, a popular white floral and animalic scent for women, and was followed in 1994 by Cassini for Men.
As of 2014, the last fragrance introduced by Cassini was in 1998 called Black Tie, a scent designed for women to wear to the office and business meetings to complete their look.
