An old favorite. Despite its 1959 launch date, this one feels VERY 70s to me, possibly because of my familiarity with Clinique Aromatics Elixir. It's rather abrasive and probably very masculine to the contemporary nose (as most of the popular women's fragrances these days seem to be either "overwhelming gourmand" or "overwhelming sweet floral"), but I like its dry and buzzy vibe. Lots of complexity in this one, but to me it reads as "leather plus a very fancy soap, with a side of spicy smoky warmth and a hint of white floral." Too intense for hot weather imo, but absolutely delicious for fall/winter. If you like the aforementioned Aromatics Elixir, the OG 1985 Fendi, Robert Piguet's Bandit, YSL Rive Gauche or similar scents, you'll maybe like this one too.

While this newest reformulation keeps some of the deeper DNA of the scent, it moves more quickly into the leather drydown with less of the floral/tobacco aspects. Longevity is not as nuclear as previous iterations (this may be pro or con, depending!). Missing the oakmoss depth and complexity, but still a remarkable and unique fragrance for its 60+ years. This is my soul scent!
