Bottega Veneta was founded in Vicenza, Italy, in 1966 to provide luxury items incorporating traditional Italian leather goods. The design house uses a signature high-quality intrecciato woven leather. Their goal is to use superb sewing techniques and trailblazing designs to make women's and men's clothing that is exquisite, yet practical in everyday life. The company has even opened a school to perpetuate its standards by instructing and supporting future leather craftsmen. Kering, formally known as Gucci Group, acquired Bottega Veneta in 2001, and gained greater acclaim with the first collection headed by Creative Director Tomas Maier. Its products are now distributed in both specialty and department stores spanning multiple continents including Asia, Australia, and Europe, as well as North and South America. The Bottega Veneta boutiques designed by Tomas Maier are constructed to exacting standards in order provide consumers with a luxurious setting for shopping that feels both comforting and private. Bottega Veneta has since broadened its range of products beyond clothing; the company also provides furniture, fine jewelry, suitcases, wallets, eyewear, scarves, ties and fragrances. The first fragrance of the company, the Bottega Veneta, was created in 2011. The women's fragrance was released by way of a collaboration with Coty Prestige, and comes in an elegant, simple case tied with a leather bow. Other fragrances from the brand include Eau Legere, Essence Aromatique, Pour Homme and Knot.
