Perricone MD launched in 1997 under the brand name Clinical Creations. In 1998, the brand name changed to N.V. Perricone, M.D., and in 2007, it became Perricone MD.

The mind behind the company, Dr. Nicholas Perricone, is a board-certified dermatologist, an expert on healthy aging and the author of several New York Times best-selling books on aging, including "The Wrinkle Cure" and "The Perricone Prescription."

Dr. Perricone's theories on preventing or negating the effects of aging were radical in the late1990s. His set out to prove that nutrient antioxidants in chemical formulations were effective in preventing or reversing the damage caused by chronic skin inflammation. His topical treatments surpassed the results achieved from more invasive dermatological practices.

In 1999, Perricone's anti-aging treatment, Face Firming Activator, was the first ""doctor brand"" launched at Sephora. His book "The Wrinkle Cure" was published in 2000 and established Dr. Perricone as "the father of inflammation theory." The following year, Perricone developed the first successful e-commerce website for skincare and hosted a PBS special that broke fundraising records.

In 2003, Perricone appeared on QVC, and he appeared on ""Oprah"" in 2004. He introduced his "3-day facelift diet" on "Good Morning America" in 2006, and in 2010, he appeared on "The Dr. Oz Show." Through Perricone MD, Dr. Perricone holds 116 U.S. and international patents for skin treatments caused by disease and aging.
