Nickelodeon Fragrances

Nickelodeon is an American cable network launched in 1979 by Warner Cable that produces children's programming. At that time, Nickelodeon's aired for just 12 hours each weekday and for 11 hours on weekends. In 1983, Nickelodeon was spun off into the then-newly formed subsidiary MTV Networks and became a 24-hour service in 1985.

In May 1999, the animated series "SpongeBob SquarePants" debuted on Nickelodeon and quickly became one of the most popular series on the channel. Created by marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg, the series chronicles the adventures of the titular sea sponge and his friends in the fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom. As of 2016, it remains one of the highest-rated series to ever air on Nickelodeon.

The series' popularity eventually turned it into a media franchise, generating billions of dollars in merchandising revenue for Nickelodeon. Merchandise bearing the SpongeBob name includes board games, manga books, fast food meals, electronics, clothing and accessories.

SpongeBob's massive popularity led Nickelodeon to launch perfumes named after the recurring characters of the series. These include Gary, a floral woody musk fragrance; Mr. Krabs, a citrus aromatic fragrance; SpongeBob, a citrus aromatic fragrance; Patrick, a floral woody musk fragrance; and Squidward, an oriental fougere fragrance. The success of these fragrances also inspired the network to lend its name to other branded fragrances for both men and women for a number of its other hit shows, such as "Dora The Explorer," Go Diego Go!" "Big Time Rush, "iCarly" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
