Nicole Richie capitalized on her appeal as a bohemian-chic trend-setter with the release of her first fragrance, Nicole by Nicole Richie, in 2012. Developed through licensing arrangements with TPR Holdings, Nicole was reportedly inspired by Richie’s memories of her mother’s habit of layering various scented oils and lotions. Its bottle resembled a vintage piece of Art Deco glass. “It’s very much a reflection of my individual style — a spiritual balance of femininity and bohemian,” explained Richie. Her second fragrance, No Rules, was released in 2014. It was described as a “bohemian, addictive” perfume, and its purple liquid was created to match Richie’s edgy hair color.
